Sorta Funny

From a test answer this morning:

"...eventually anyone that is not very wealthy turns into the poor working class doing everything they can to make ends meat."

Mmmmm! Ends meat! Roasted, grilled, or fried, you can't go wrong with ends meat.

It's probably akin to Kana Hakkliha.

I consider it a sign of great "wealth" if one can make ends-meat.

I suggested to my Intro students yesterday that we use the 3-4 million dogs and cats euthanized in the US every year (well, the majority of those who didn't die from health problems) to make ends meat--and they thought I was disgusting. All except one student in the back with a rather strange contented smile on his face.

You're a sick man, KT.

No wonder we're friends.

Nope, just pragmatic. There's no moral difference between eating a cow, pig, sheep, or deer on the one hand, and eating a cat or dog on the other. Mere cultural convention.

If we have too many unwanted pets and hungry folks, why not kill two birds with one stone (to use metaphor almost as a pun).

(At least this term I resisted the urge to suggest cannibalism.... That's progress, right?)

Beefy tips! Good in a basalmic marinade.

What kind of class are you teaching? Maybe I need to come up, bring along my chef's knife and attend?

Also, I guess anyone who isn't very wealthy would be closer to the poor working class than, well, someone who is moderately wealthy.

Keep them coming!
